Ylian Saint-Hilaire, a senior architect at Intel, has written a paper called "Extreme Programming with Intel vPro technology- Journal. The paper talks about some of the uses of Intel Active Management Technology (Intel AMT) that goes beyond the intented design of the technology. Ylian shows opportunities of building innovation solutions using the four basic features of the Intel AMT technology (serial-over-LAN, IDE-redirect, agent presence, & third party data storage).
- Extreme uses of Serial-over-Lan - Shows routing TCP traffic and initiative remote control sessions using VNC
- Extreme uses of IDE redirection - Shows video & image redirection and how to copy large amounts of data from the Intel AMT system back to the management console at a relatively high speed.
- Extreme uses of Agent Presence - Shows some innovative power management techniques (sleep and hibernate modes)
- Extreme uses of 3PDS - Shows how to build a peer-to-peer file transfer mesh network and remotely reading the 3PDS blocks.
